LYNDHURST, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at Felician College, 2-0 Tuesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The Cougars (7-7-2 overall, 6-3-2 CACC) need a victory or a tie in Friday's season finale against Goldey-Beacom College to clinch a spot in next week's CACC Tournament. The Golden Falcons (9-5-1 overall, 8-3 CACC) wrapped up second place in the league standings with the win.
Felician took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute of the game when the ball went off a Cougar player and into the goal for an own goal. Caldwell could not net the equalizer despite having the better run of play for the rest of the first half. Then in the 59th minute, JoJo Pisani headed home a corner kick from Alysia Arcona for an insurance goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) played the second half and made two saves for Caldwell. Allie Couzo earned the shutout with two saves for Felician.
The Cougars close out the regular season on Friday, Oct. 28 against Goldey-Beacom. Caldwell can claim the No. 3 seed in next week's CACC Tournament with a win. The game is set to start at 1:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
