CALDWELL, N.J. - Junior right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) tallied 14 kills and a .481 hitting percentage as the Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 25-11, 25-10, 25-16 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon in the George R. Newman Center. The victory allows the Cougars (19-4 overall) to clinch their fourth consecutive CACC North Division title and improve to 14-1 in league play. The Lightning fall to 12-13 overall, 6-9 CACC.
Caldwell never trailed in either of the first two sets, with Mosher recording six kills in the first set and five more in the second. In the second set, the Cougars scored the first six points and led 14-1, hitting .353 for the set. Goldey-Beacom built a 12-11 lead in the third set before three service aces from freshman outside hitter Erica Harrell (Richardson, TX/Plano East) helped Caldwell score the next five points en route to a 25-16 win.
Mosher finished with 14 kills and one hitting error in 27 attempts for a .481 hitting percentage. Harrell, pictured, added seven kills and four aces, while senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) tallied 28 assists to go with five kills, four aces and nine digs. Defensively, freshman Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) had 12 digs. Kadi McCoy led the Lightning with eight kills.
The North Division crown means the Cougars will host the fourth-place team in the CACC South in the first round of the CACC Tournament on Nov. 8. Caldwell is the defending CACC Tournament champion.
The Cougars play another CACC match at Nyack College on Tuesday, Oct. 25, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Nyack, N.Y.
