CALDWELL COMES BACK TO BEAT CONCORDIA IN WOMEN'S SOCCER, 3-1

CALDWELL, N.J. - Three unanswered goals allowed the Caldwell College women's soccer team to erase a 1-0 deficit and defeat Concordia College, 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Friday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The victory improves the Cougars' overall record to 7-6-1, including a 6-2-1 mark in the conference. The Clippers fall to 2-11 overall, 0-10 CACC.

Concordia took an early 1-0 lead when Iyesha Ollivierre headed home a cross from Bridgitte McCalla in the 16th minute. Caldwell pulled even in the 23rd minute on a header by freshman forward Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) off a corner kick from freshman midfielder Ashlee Paknis (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.). The goal was Migoya's team-leading ninth of the season.

The game remained tied into the second half until the 65th minute. Migoya stole the ball from a Concordia defender and blasted a shot that was saved by Clippers' goalkeeper Jessica Nanan. The rebound went to senior forward Giana Scerbo (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park), pictured, who scored for the third time this season. Freshman forward Megan Ferrara (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) notched her first collegiate goal in the 75th minute, when she took the ball from a defender and launched a shot that glanced off the fingertips of Nanan and into the goal.

Junior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace) recorded six saves in the win for Caldwell, which out-shot Concordia 21-10 for the game. Nanan ended up with eight saves for the Clippers.

Caldwell plays a CACC game at Wilmington University on Saturday, Oct. 22, beginning at 12:00 p.m. in New Castle, Del.
