COUGAR VOLLEYBALL BLANKS DOMINICAN, 3-0

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team avenged its only Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss of the season with a three-set victory over Dominican College, 25-17, 25-15, 25-22 Tuesday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars are now 18-4 overall and 13-1 in league play, while the Chargers, who defeated Caldwell in four sets on Oct. 4, fall to 13-12, 9-5 CACC.

The Cougars trailed early in each set, including an 11-7 deficit in the first set. A pair of service aces from senior Elise Lennon (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus), pictured, helped Caldwell tally the next seven points to take a 14-11 lead en route to a 25-17 win. Freshman Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) had a team-best four kills in the set. Junior Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) and sophomore Becca Feczer (Findlay, OH/Findlay) each had three kills as the Cougars cruised in the second set, 25-15. In the final set, Dominican pulled to within two points at 23-21, but a pair of attack errors pushed Caldwell to a 25-22 win to complete the sweep. Sophomore Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) put down four kills in five attempts (.800) in the third set.

Mosher finished with a team-high eight kills, while Bausch and Nestoras each had seven kills. Five Cougars tallied 10 or more digs, with junior Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) recording 16 digs and Nestoras tallying 14. Michelle Fiorvanti registered 10 kills and 15 digs for Dominican.

Caldwell takes on Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, Oct. 22 in a CACC contest. The first serve is at 1:00 p.m. in the Newman Center.
