BOEHLER, FRANCHI LEAD COUGARS TO A 1-0 VICTORY OVER MOLLOY IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman midfielder Emily Boehler (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Reg.) scored the game's only goal in the 72nd minute as the Caldwell College women's soccer team defeated Molloy College, 1-0 in a non-conference match Monday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The win is the Cougars' first against a non-league opponent this season and gives them a 6-6-1 record, while the Lions drop to 8-7.

With the game scoreless midway through the second half, freshman forward Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) sent a long throw-in down the left side to sophomore forward Julie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.). Crankshaw slid the ball across the face of the goal to Boehler, pictured, who put a shot past Molloy goalkeeper Nicole Della Porta for a 1-0 Caldwell lead. It was Boehler's first collegiate goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) also recorded a first, earning her first collegiate shutout with five saves. Franchi came up big in the 13th minute, when the Cougars were called for a handball in their own penalty area. Franchi dove to her left and saved the penalty kick to keep the Lions off the scoreboard. Della Porta ended up with three saves for Molloy, which held a 16-6 advantage in shots.

Caldwell hosts Concordia College on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game. The kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
