CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Nyack College, 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday night in the George R. Newman Center. The victory keeps the Cougars (15-4 overall) unbeaten at home in conference play and improves their CACC record to 11-1. The Warriors fall to 8-10, 7-5 CACC.
Caldwell maintained control throughout the match, never trailing by more than one point in any of the three sets. In the first set, the Cougars won 25-18 while hitting .231, with junior Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) and freshman Athena Nestoras (Los Angeles, CA/St. Monica) each contributing three kills. Junior Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) paced Caldwell with four kills in the second set en route to a 25-20 victory. The third set saw McDonough register four consecutive aces to lead the Cougars to a 25-17 win. The victory improved Caldwell's record to 7-0 in home games against conference opponents this season.
McDonough finished with a match-high nine kills to go with 14 digs, while Mosher had eight kills and three blocks. Senior Brittany Denter (Detroit, MI/Kingsley), pictured, and sophomore Becca Feczer (Findlay, OH/Findlay) each added five kills, and sophomore Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) pitched in with four kills and four blocks. Senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) kept the offense going with 30 assists, and junior Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) paced the defense with 17 digs. Nyack was led by Allyson Rola with eight kills.
The Cougars play a tri-match at Philadelphia University on Saturday, Oct. 15, facing the host Rams at 12:00 p.m. before playing a non-league match against Southern Connecticut State at 2:00 p.m.
