COUGARS HANDLE NYACK IN WOMEN'S SOCCER, 3-1

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team picked up a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory with a 3-1 win over visiting Nyack College Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The win ends a two-game losing streak for the Cougars, who are now 5-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in league play. The Warriors drop to 4-9, 4-4 CACC.

Caldwell struck first with a goal by freshman forward Natalie Migoya (Lincoln Park, NJ/Morris Catholic) off an assist from sophomore forward Julie Crankshaw (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) in the 15th minute. It was Migoya's team-leading eighth goal of the season. Five minutes later, freshman midfielder Ashlee Paknis (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) one-timed a long cross from sophomore midfielder Carissa Strye (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) into the net to put the Cougars on top, 2-0. In the 60th minute, Crankshaw set up a goal by senior forward Giana Scerbo (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) for a commanding 3-0 lead.

Nyack would get on the scoreboard in the 77th minute on a goal by Heather Wakeley to end the shutout bid of junior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace). Cabales finished with six saves in the win, while Maddy Barbarino had five saves in goal for Nyack.
