COUGAR VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS NYACK IN CACC MATCH

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Nyack College, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Thursday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The win keeps the Cougars (7-3 overall) unbeaten in conference play at 4-0, while the Warriors fall to 2-6, 2-4 CACC.

In the first set, Caldwell trailed 14-11 before scoring 12 of the next 13 points to take control of the set. Senior outside hitter Cory Roesing (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) tallied six kills in the set to lead the Cougars. Junior outside hitter Justine Pecora (Clifton, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic Acad.) and sophomore right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) had five kills apiece in the second set as the Cougars took a 20-13 lead en route to a 25-18 win. Caldwell broke open a close third set with five straight points to grab a 21-14 advantage. A kill by senior middle blocker Keesha Francois (Elkins Park, PA/Cheltenham) and three Nyack errors closed out the win for Caldwell, which received four kills from junior middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) in the final set.

As a team Caldwell hit .240, with Alao posting a .571 hitting percentage and Pecora hitting .421. Mosher led the Cougars with nine kills while Roesing, Alao and Pecora finished with eight kills each. Junior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) recorded 23 assists in the first two sets, and junior setter Brittany Denter (Grawn, MI/Kingsley) had nine assists in the third set. Defensively, Alao recorded four total blocks and sophomore libero Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) notched 12 digs. Nyack's Moana Masoniai registered 14 kills to lead all players.

The Cougars host four-time defending CACC champion Georgian Court University on Saturday, Sept. 24 as a part of Homecoming festivities. The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Newman Center.
