CALDWELL VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS CONCORDIA

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Concordia College in three sets, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Thursday night at the Meyer Athletic Center. The Cougars, who already have clinched first place in the North Division, are now 20-7 overall and 16-2 in the conference. The Clippers drop to 5-18, 5-13 CACC.

In the first set, Caldwell broke a 16-16 tie by scoring nine of the next 12 points to take a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-19 win. Sophomore right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) led the Cougars with four kills in the set. The Cougars trailed 10-9 in the second set before scoring the next four points en route to a 25-18 win. Again Mosher delivered four kills as Caldwell hit .281 as a team in the second set. Senior outside hitter Justine Pecora (Clifton, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic Acad.) helped the Cougars cruise to victory in the third set with five kills, as Caldwell won the set 25-20. The Cougars hit .235 for the match compared to .127 for the Clippers.

Mosher, pictured, led all players with 10 kills to go with five total blocks, while junior middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) had seven kills and four total blocks. Junior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) registered 31 assists to spark the offense. Defensively, sophomore libero Maddy Amon (Louisville, KY/Bishop Moore) had 19 digs and freshman middle blocker Kasey Bausch (Bellmore, NY/Holy Trinity) added three blocks. Juliann Gillespie paced Concordia with seven kills.

Caldwell wraps up the regular season with a CACC match at home against Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, Nov. 6. The match starts at 1:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
