BRIDGEPORT BLANKS CALDWELL IN WOMEN'S SOCCER, 5-0

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference game to the University of Bridgeport, 5-0 Tuesday night at Knights Field. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 8-7 on the season, while the Purple Knights improve to 11-3-1.

Bridgeport's Asia Pulse opened the scoring in the 19th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Linda Velaj made it 2-0 with a goal in the 32nd minute, then scored again in the 40th minute for a 3-0 advantage. Elin Svavarsdottir assisted on both of Velaj's goals, then made it three in a row when she set up Katie Stanley's goal in the 54th minute. Molloy Tague closed out the scoring with a tally in the 89th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) recorded nine saves for Caldwell, as the Cougars were outshot 23-3. Julia Colley made one save for the Purple Knights.

The Cougars play another non-conference game on Wednesday, Oct. 27, when they travel to Molloy College. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
