D'ORSANEO LEADS COUGARS TO OVERTIME VICTORY OVER FELICIAN IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Sophomore midfielder Nikki D'Orsaneo (Bowie, MD/Bowie) scored twice on penalty kicks, including the game-winner in the 101st minute, to give the Caldwell College women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Felician College in double-overtime in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Tuesday night at Tryon Field. The win snaps a three-game losing streak for the Cougars, who are now 2-6 overall and 2-2 in CACC play. The Golden Falcons drop to 4-5, 3-3 CACC.

After a scoreless first half, the Cougars got on the board in the 65th minute. Senior midfielder Brianna Diaz (Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) was taken down in the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick. D'Orsaneo, pictured, beat Felician goalkeeper Allie Couzo to her left for a 1-0 lead. The Golden Falcons tied the game in the 87th minute, when Emily Gleason finished a free kick from Anna Peterson to tie the game at 1-1.

Following a scoreless first overtime period, senior forward Nicole Laureigh (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) broke in early in the second period and took a shot that was saved by Couzo. While in pursuit of the rebound, Laureigh was fouled in the box for another Caldwell penalty kick. D'Orsaneo stepped up and buried her attempt to give the Cougars a 2-1 victory.

Junior goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) recorded seven saves in goal for Caldwell, while Couzo stopped four shots for Felician.

The Cougars play a non-conference game at the University of Bridgeport on Thursday, Oct. 1, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
