CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team fell to C.W. Post University, 2-0 in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The loss gives the Cougars an overall record of 1-6 on the season, while the Pioneers, ranked fifth in the East Region, improve to 6-2-1.
Janie Janitto put C.W. Post on the board in the 13th minute with a long shot from 30 yards out near the left sideline that cleared freshman goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) and tucked under the crossbar. Then in the 32nd minute, Ivana Babic one-timed a pass from Danielle Deluca with her heel into the goal for a 2-0 lead. Deluca assisted on both goals for the Pioneers, who out-shot the Cougars 20-3.
Cabales played the first half and made a career-high six saves in goal for Caldwell. Junior Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) recorded four saves in the second half. C.W. Post goalkeeper Allie Weiser registered two saves for the shutout.
Next up for Caldwell is a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at Felician College on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J.
