COUGARS EARN THREE-SET WIN OVER FELICIAN

NYACK, N.Y. - The Caldwell College volleyball team cruised to a three-set victory over Nyack College, 25-13, 25-22, 25-13 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Thursday night at Bowman Gym. With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-8 on the season, including a 4-0 record in the conference. The Warriors drop to 2-4, 1-3 CACC.

Led by three kills from junior middle blocker Keesha Francois (Elkins Park, PA/Cheltenham), the Cougars took the first set, 25-13. In the second set, Nyack led early, 9-5 and held a 17-14 advantage until Caldwell tallied five straight points to take over the lead for good. Sophomore middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) led the Cougars with four kills, as Caldwell registered 13 kills and a .273 hitting percentage in the set. The Cougars took control of the third set with a string of 11 consecutive points that made the score 18-6 en route to a 25-13 win. Francois notched four kills in the set, while junior outside hitter Cory Roesing (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) had three kills.

Francois, pictured, led Caldwell with eight kills to go with three total blocks. Sophomore setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) dished out 26 assists to help the Cougars hit .220, the team's second-best hitting percentage this season. Defensively, Alao tallied four total blocks, Roesing had three blocks and freshman libero Maddy Amon (Shelbyville, KY/Bishop Moore) had a team-best nine digs. Nyack's Brianne Cercone led all players with 10 kills.

The Cougars host three-time defending CACC champion Georgian Court University on Saturday, Sept. 26 as a part of Caldwell's Homecoming celebration. The match is set to start at 2:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
