CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team allowed three second-half goals in a 3-0 loss to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Dominican College Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 1-5 on the season, including a 1-2 mark in conference play. The Lady Chargers move to 4-1-2 overall, 3-0-1 CACC.
The game remained scoreless until the 65th minute. Heather Augliera sent a pass into the penalty area towards Margaret Porter, who turned and scored from 12 yards out for a 1-0 lead. Less than five minutes later, Jennifer Joyce finished a loose ball in front of the Caldwell goal to put Dominican ahead 2-0. Then with just over a minute to play, Porter tallied her second goal of the game off a pass from Rosa Centurion.
Junior goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) played the second half and made one save, while freshman Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) started and made two first-half saves. The Cougars out-shot Dominican 16-11 but could not score, as Valentina Sturchio recorded five saves for the shutout.
Caldwell hosts C.W. Post University on Saturday, Sept. 26 in a non-conference game. The kick-off is set for 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
