COUGARS EARN THREE-SET WIN OVER FELICIAN

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team remained unbeaten in the conference after beating Felician College in three sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday night at Job Gym. The victory gives the Cougars (5-8 overall) a 3-0 mark in league play, while the Golden Falcons fall to 2-8 overall, 1-2 CACC.

Caldwell broke open a close first set by scoring five of six points for a 16-12 lead en route to a 25-17 win. Freshman outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) had a team-best five kills. The Cougars trailed in the second set, 15-12 before reeling off 10 straight points with sophomore setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) serving to take control of the set. Junior Justine Pecora (Clifton, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic Acad.) and sophomores Elise Lennon (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) and Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) had two kills apiece in the run. Alao helped lift Caldwell to the third set win with four kills, as the Cougars led by as many as 10 points.

McDonough, last week's CACC Rookie of the Week, registered a team-high 11 kills to go with nine digs, while Alao, the conference's Player of the Week, had 10 kills. Roth (pictured) finished with 33 assists, three service aces and eight digs, and freshman libero Maddy Amon (Shelbyville, KY/Bishop Moore) tallied 12 digs. Caldwell averaged a season-best 13.3 kills per set while hitting .181 as a team.

Next up for Caldwell is another CACC match against Nyack College on Thursday, Sept. 24. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Nyack, N.Y.
