GRIFFINS EDGE COUGAR WOMEN'S SOCCER IN OVERTIME

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - A goal by Alyssa Radetich three minutes into overtime allowed Chestnut Hill College to defeat the Caldwell College women's soccer team, 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at the Chestnut Hill Soccer Field. The loss leaves the Cougars at 1-4 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Griffins improve to 4-3 overall, 2-2 in the CACC.

After the teams battled to a scoreless tie through 90 minutes, Radetich took a pass from Lauren Riiff and broke in alone on freshman goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip). Cabales deflected the shot but could not prevent the ball from going into the left side of the goal, as Radetich scored the game-winner three minutes and eight seconds into the first overtime period.

Cabales played the second half and the overtime period in goal and recorded three saves. Junior Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) started and made three saves in the first half. Jessica Veazey made five saves for Chestnut Hill to record the shutout. Caldwell out-shot the Griffins 18-12.

The Cougars host Dominican College on Wednesday, Sept. 23 in a CACC game. The kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
