CALDWELL WOMEN'S SOCCER COMES BACK TO BEAT BLOOMFIELD, 3-2

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - A goal by senior forward Nicole Laureigh (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) in the 84th minute lifted the Caldwell College women's soccer team to a 3-2 triumph over Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Tuesday afternoon at Watsessing Park. The win is the first of the season for the Cougars (1-3) and gives them a 1-0 mark in CACC play. The defeat drops the Lady Deacons to 2-3 overall, 0-2 CACC.

Stacey Jones put Bloomfield on the board less than two minutes into the game when she knocked home a rebound off a shot from Jerrica Lavooy. The Cougars answered just one minute and 28 second later. Junior defender Eliza Urciuoli (Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) one-timed a shot off a cleared corner kick and found the back of the net for a 1-1 tie. Jones put Bloomfield back on top in the 12th minute with a goal off a cross from Michelle Cadena. Again Caldwell responded when junior forward Jackie D'Orsaneo (Bowie, MD/Bowie) put away the rebound from a header by junior midfielder Morgan Frankenfield (Coplay, PA/Whitehall Coplay) to knot the score at 2-2 in the 31st minute.

The game remained tied until the 84th minute. Sophomore midfielder Nikki D'Orsaneo (Bowie, MD/Bowie) found Laureigh with a pass at the top of the penalty area. Laureigh, pictured, beat Bloomfield goalkeeper Kira Wagar with a shot from 22 yards out for the game-winner and her first goal of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) tallied seven saves in goal for Caldwell, while Wagar finished with eight saves for the Lady Deacons, who were out-shot 24-12.

Next up for Caldwell is another CACC match-up against Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, Sept. 19. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Penn.
