CALDWELL SPLITS AT ESU VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team wrapped up play Saturday at the East Stroudsburg University Tournament, losing to Adelphi University 3-0 and beating Holy Family University 3-0 at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Cougars are now 2-6 on the season.

Caldwell began the day with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-8 defeat at the hands of Adelphi (6-5), which qualified for the NCAA East Region Tournament last season. Junior Cory Roesing (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) led the Cougars with six kills, while freshman Maddy Amon (Shelbyville, KY/Bishop Moore) tallied 14 digs.

In the second match of the day, Caldwell swept Holy Family, 25-19, 25-17, 25-20 in a non-conference match. Roesing, pictured, had a team-best nine kills to go with seven digs to pace the Cougars to their second win over the Tigers in a week. Amon registered 11 digs, and sophomore setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) dished out 23 assists to help Caldwell averaged 10 kills per set.

The Cougars begin Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 15, against Bloomfield College. The match, which is also Caldwell's first home game of the season, begins at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
