With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in league play, while the Lady Deacons improve to 1-5, 1-0 CACC.

Caldwell held the upper hand for the entire first half, leading by as many as eight points. With the Cougars ahead 31-24 following a three-pointer by sophomore forward Kaitlyn Lambert (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland), Bloomfield closed the half with a 6-2 run to trail 33-31 at the break. Freshman guard Torey Jones (N. Providence, RI/LaSalle Acad.) registered 11 points in the first period to pace the Cougars.

Six straight points from Tiffany McDaniel allowed the Lady Deacons to take their first lead of the game, 36-35 with 16:34 left in the game. Caldwell regained the advantage with a 15-6 run, sparked by six points from freshman center Gillian Felix (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) that put the visiting Cougars on top 50-42 with 8:28 to play. With the game appearing to be under control for Caldwell, the Cougars went the rest of the contest without scoring, missing their final seven field goal attempts while committing eight turnovers.
