ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - The Caldwell College volleyball team avenged a loss earlier in the season and defeated Molloy College in three sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-13 in a non-conference match Tuesday night at Quealy Gymnasium. The win allows the Cougars to extend their winning streak to a school-record eight matches and improves their overall record to 19-11. The 19 victories also set a program best for wins in a season. Molloy, which won a five-set match over Caldwell on Sept. 19, falls to 9-21.
Caldwell never trailed in the first set, with junior outside hitter Cory Roesing (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) and freshman outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) tallying four kills apiece. The second set was close until eight straight points turned a one-point lead into a 17-8 advantage. Caldwell controlled the third set, leading by as many as 12 points en route to a 25-13 win. Roesing added five more kills in the final set en route to a match-high 11 kills.
McDonough, the reigning CACC Player of the Week, finished with nine kills, four service aces and a team-best 14 digs. Sophomore setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) recorded 27 assists and had four aces, while junior middle blocker Keesha Francois (Elkins Park, PA/Cheltenham) had four total blocks to go with six kills.
