PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team dropped its final regular-season game to Holy Family University, 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest Saturday afternoon. The result gives the Cougars (6-10-1 overall) a 6-5-1 record in conference play to finish in seventh place. The Tigers improve to 10-8-1, 7-3-1 CACC.
After a scoreless first half, Dawn Curry headed in a corner kick from Melissa Benson in the 57th minute to put Holy Family on the board. Four minutes later, Curry set up a goal by Ashley Antczak for a 2-0 lead. In the 74th minute, Curry found the net again to put the Tigers ahead to stay, 3-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) recorded six saves in goal for Caldwell, including five in the second half. Gina Mansi made three saves and shared the shutout with Michelle Giambrone.
The Cougars' seventh-place finish means they will play second-seeded Georgian Court University on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the quarterfinals of the CACC Tournament. The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J.
