WILMINGTON, Del. - The Caldwell College volleyball team set school records with 48 kills and a .483 hitting percentage in a three-set victory over Goldey-Beacom College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at the Jones Center. The win gives the Cougars a CACC record of 7-1 while evening the Cougars' overall record at 9-9. The Lightning falls to 5-13, 2-8 CACC.

Caldwell edged Goldey-Beacom in the first set, scoring the final six points for a 25-20 win. Sophomore middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) tallied five kills and junior outside hitter Cory Roesing (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) had four kills in the set, with the Cougars registering 18 kills as a team. Caldwell led from start to finish in the second set en route to a 25-11 win. Alao and freshman outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) each had four kills as Caldwell tallied 16 kills with just one hitting error.

The Cougars dominated the third set, scoring 17 consecutive points with junior defensive specialist Lauren Herzog (Lodi, NJ/Lodi) serving. Alao notched seven kills as Caldwell clinched the match with a 25-6 win. Herzog ended up with four service aces for the match.

Alao finished the match with 16 kills and no errors for a .762 hitting percentage. Roesing recorded eight kills, while sophomore setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) dished out 41 assists to go with four kills and eight digs. McDonough tallied a team-best 17 digs to go with seven kills. Caldwell finished with 48 kills and just five hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .483. The previous school records were 41 kills in three sets against Goldey-Beacom in 2008, and .392 at Chestnut Hill College in 2007.

The Cougars play at Holy Family University on Saturday, Oct. 10 in another CACC match. The first serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
