COUGAR WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN OVERTIME TO WILMINGTON

NEW CASTLE, Del. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team fell in overtime to Wilmington University, 2-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex. It is the third overtime loss of the season for the Cougars, who drop to 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference. The Wildcats are now 6-4, 5-2 CACC.

The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute on an unassisted goal by sophomore defender Rosalee Edsall (Bellport, NY/Bellport), her first goal as a Cougar. The lead lasted until five minutes into the second half, as Brittany Rhodes scored in the 51st minute. With the game tied 1-1 and time winding down in the first overtime period, Kirsten Stallone took a pass from Rhodes and scored the game-winner with 21 seconds left on the clock.

Junior goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) had a strong game in goal for Caldwell, recording 10 saves. Wilmington's Brooke Eveler tallied nine saves in a winning effort.

The Cougars play another CACC contest on Wednesday, Oct. 7 against Nyack College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
