CALDWELL LOSES TO GEORGIAN COURT IN WOMEN'S SOCCER, 2-0

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Georgian Court University, 2-0 Monday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The result drops the Cougars to 4-9-1 overall and 4-4-1 in league play, while the Lions improve to 9-6, 7-2 CACC.

Senior forward Nicole Laureigh (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) had two golden chances to score for Caldwell in the first half, but both shots rolled just wide of the goal. With 12 seconds remaining in the first half, Alexa Niro received a pass from Shannon Mastrogiovanni and scored from 15 yards out to give Georgian Court a 1-0 lead. The Cougars dominated play in the first half, out-shooting the Lions 8-3, but went into the halftime break down a goal. Fourteen minutes into the second half, Alley Abbate finished a rebound off a shot from Candace Seaton to put the Lions ahead 2-0. Caldwell was unable to get a shot past Lindsay Hammond, who made five saves for the shutout.

Junior goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) recorded six saves in goal for Caldwell, which had won its past two CACC games.

The Cougars host Concordia College on Wednesday, Oct. 21 in another CACC contest. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
