BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team suffered its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss of the season Tuesday night with a three-set defeat at Bloomfield College at the BC Gymnasium. The Cougars drop to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference, while the Lady Deacons improve to 6-7, 4-0 CACC.
The match pitted the two top teams in the CACC North Division, as both Bloomfield and Caldwell entered the contest with 3-0 conference records. But the Lady Deacons defended their division crown with a commanding three-set win, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21. Freshman right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive), pictured, who was named the CACC co-Rookie of the Week yesterday, led the Cougars with nine kills, while freshman setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) recorded 20 assists. Bloomfield was paced by Ursula Pereira, who had 13 kills, and Sonia Perez, who dished out 34 assists.
The Cougars step out of the conference to host Molloy College on Thursday, Oct. 2. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
