PAKNIS RACKS UP FOUR GOALS IN 5-0 VICTORY OVER FELICIAN IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

CALDWELL, N.J. - Senior midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) proved to be unstoppable, scoring four goals as the Caldwell College women's soccer team beat Felician College, 5-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The victory is the Cougars' first of the season and gives them a 1-6 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the CACC. Felician, which had won its previous three games, falls to 3-5, 2-2 CACC.

Paknis scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute, when she blasted a free kick from 20 yards out into the left side of the goal for a 1-0 Caldwell lead. Just before halftime, Paknis gathered a throw-in down the right flank from freshman Nikki D'Orsaneo (Bowie, MD/Bowie), dribble in close to the Felician goal and scored from a sharp angle to put the Cougars up 2-0.

Junior forward Nicole Laureigh (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) made it 3-0 just 1:26 into the second half. D'Orsaneo sent a pass up the middle to Laureigh, who dribbled past her defender and into the penalty area, where she scored her first goal as a Cougar. Twenty-seven seconds later, Laureigh fired a shot on goal that was saved by Shaneil Lorenzo, but Paknis finished the rebound to complete the hat trick. She picked up her fourth goal of the game and team-leading sixth on the season in a similar fashion, knocking home another rebound of a shot by senior midfielder Kim Fenton (Galloway Twp., NJ/Galloway Twp.) in the 62nd minute.

Paknis' four goals in a game is believed to be a school record and ties her for second all-time in the history of the CACC.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) made two saves in goal for her first shutout of the season and fourth of her career. Lorenzo recorded six saves on the day for the Golden Falcons, who are 0-6 against Caldwell since 2003.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they host Georgian Court University as a part of the College's Homecoming celebration. The CACC contest starts at 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
