PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College men's basketball team was unable to put the first blemish on Philadelphia University's perfect conference record, losing 72-54 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up Saturday afternoon at the Gallagher Center. The Rams remain unbeaten in the conference at 15-0 (18-11 overall), while the Cougars lose their third game in a row to fall to 10-16, 8-7 CACC.
Caldwell shot just 31.5 percent from the field for the game, including just 23.1 percent in the first half in which the Rams built a 32-18 lead at the break. On the other side of the court, Philadelphia made 62.9 percent from the floor to keep the Cougars trailing for most of the game.
Junior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) led three Cougars in double figures with 13 points. Senior guard Michael Wise (Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Twp.) and sophomore guard Eddie Crockett (Passaic, NJ/Passaic), pictured, each scored 11 points, with Crockett dishing our five assists. Russell Frederick and Jason Hickenbottom paced the Rams with 25 and 20 points, respectively. Further details of this game were not available.
The Cougars host Nyack College on Wednesday, Feb. 27 in the final game of the regular season. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
