COUGAR VOLLEYBALL SPLITS TRI-MATCH AT GEORGIAN COURT

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team split a pair of matches against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams in a tri-match Saturday afternoon at Georgian Court University. The Cougars swept Chestnut Hill College, 3-0 before falling to the host Lions in three sets. The results give Caldwell a 7-7 overall record, including a 4-2 mark in the CACC.

The Cougars had little difficulty in their first match, beating the Griffins 25-14, 25-13, 25-12. Sophomore middle blocker Keesha Francois (Elkins Park, PA/Cheltenham) and freshman setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) each had a team-best five kills, as the Cougars hit .284 as a team. Roth also had 19 assists and two service aces, while freshman outside hitter Elise Lennon (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus), pictured, led the defense with 11 digs. Nicole Corrado had seven kills to pace the Griffins (1-11, 0-7 CACC).

The going was a lot tougher against the defending CACC-champion Lions (16-4, 7-0 CACC), who swept the Cougars 25-19, 25-10, 25-15. Ann Casado led all players with 12 kills while also recording 10 assists, while Lisamarie Figuroa had 19 assists. Freshman middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) paced the Cougars with five kills in the loss.

Caldwell hosts Felician College on Thursday, Oct. 9 in a CACC North Division match. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
