CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team defeated Chestnut Hill College, 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-9-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the conference, while the Griffins fall to 5-12, 2-7 CACC. The victory also clinches a spot in the CACC Tournament for the Cougars with one game to play.

Caldwell opened the scoring in the 21st minute, when a corner kick by senior forward Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) was headed to the back post by freshman defender Nikki D'Orsaneo (Bowie, MD/Bowie). Freshman midfielder Cecilia Westerberg (Uppsala, Sweden/Fyris School) put the ball away for her first collegiate goal and a 1-0 Cougar lead. Caldwell went ahead 2-0 in the 35th minute after freshman forward Katie Margiotta (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) headed home a cross by senior midfielder Samantha Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan). Midway through the second half, Rinks, pictured, picked up her second assist on the day when her throw-in found Paknis near Chestnut Hill's penalty area. Paknis dribbled past a defender and blasted a shot into the goal for her team-leading 11th of the season. The Griffins avoided being shut out with a goal by Lauren Riiff off a rebound in the 82nd minute.

Sophomores Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) and Morgan Frankenfield (Coplay, NJ/Whitehall Coplay) shared the goalkeeping duties for Caldwell, with Frankenfield recording two saves. Caitlin Lafferty tallied five saves in goal for the Griffins, who were out-shot 24-4 for the game.

Caldwell finished league play with a home game against Nyack College on Monday, Oct. 27. The key CACC match-up begins at 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
