CALDWELL BEATS FELICIAN IN VOLLEYBALL FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT VICTORY

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Freshman middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) recorded 15 kills and a .323 hitting percentage to lead the Caldwell College volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Felician College, 25-17, 19-25, 25-17, 25-13, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday night at Job Gym. The win is the Cougars' fourth in a row and gives them a 12-8 record on the season, including an 8-2 mark in the conference. The Golden Falcons drop to 2-21, 2-8 CACC.

The Cougars trailed early in the first set but came back to win, 25-17, with Alao recording six kills. There was no comeback in the second set, as Felician led by as many as 11 points before tying up the match with a 25-19 win. Alao helped Caldwell take control of the match with five more kills to spark a 25-17 triumph in the third set. Felician was unable to get back on track in the fourth set, committing 13 attack errors as the Cougars took the set 25-13 and the match. The win gives Caldwell a season sweep of Felician.

Alao finished with 15 kills and five errors in 31 attempts. She also had five total blocks, giving her four straight matches with four or more blocks. Freshman setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) notched her fourth double-double of the season with 38 assists and a team-best 17 digs. Sophomore outside hitting Justine Pecora (Clifton, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic Acad.) contributed nine kills to the offense, while freshman outside hitter Elise Lennon (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) helped out the defense with a career-best 13 digs. C.C. Cousins led the Golden Falcons with nine kills.

Caldwell continues conference play with a home match against Bloomfield College on Thursday, Oct. 23. The Cougars and Lady Deacons are tied atop the CACC North Division standings with identical 8-2 records. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
