ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team lost its fourth straight game Thursday night at Dominican College, 78-52 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest. The result gives the Cougars an 8-5 overall record and a 2-3 mark in the conference, while the Chargers improve to 10-2, 4-1 CACC.

The Cougars never led in the game and trailed by as many as 22 points in the first half. Down 38-16 with 4:36 remaining in the half, Caldwell used three-pointers from freshmen Stephanie Cadet (Elmont, NY/Elmont Memorial) and Kirsty Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Acad.) to go on a 14-7 run that made the halftime score 45-30 in favor of Dominican. The Cougars, who came into the game averaging 19.8 turnovers per game, turned the ball over 23 times in the first half alone.

Momentum stayed with Caldwell at the start of the second half. A basket by sophomore guard Kate Shutz (Edison, NJ/Edison) completed a 10-5 run that cut the deficit to 50-40 with 14:43 on the clock. But Dominican ended any thoughts of a Cougar comeback with 14 straight points after the midway point of the half, punctuated by back-to-back three-pointers from Kristen Tracey, that gave the Chargers a 72-46 advantage with 3:29 to play. Caldwell, which finished with a season-high 40 turnovers for the game, committed eight miscues during Dominican's 14-0 run. For the game, the Chargers scored 38 points off turnovers compared to 13 for Caldwell.

Junior forward Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) led the Cougars with 18 points and 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Leedham, pictured, pitched in 10 points and a team-high three assists. Dominican was led by Althea Chambers, who tallied 22 points, 10 boards and six steals, and Dana Rotio, who had 11 points, seven steals and five assists.

The Cougars' next game is on Wednesday, Jan. 16 against CACC North rival Bloomfield College at home. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
