CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team was defeated by Molloy College, 1-0 in a non-conference game Monday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The loss drops the Cougars to 1-4 on the year, while the Lions improve to 2-4-1.
Molloy scored the only goal of the game at the 13:01 mark of the first half. Jessica Molina gathered a rebound off a shot by Kelly LeClair and scored from 12 yards out. The Cougars' best chance to tie the game came in the 20th minute, when a long pass sent senior midfielder Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) in alone on goalkeeper Christina Aquilon. But Aquilon came off her line and made the save to preserve the lead.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell), pictured, had a strong game in goal, recording eight saves. Aquilon made three saves for the shutout, her first of the season.
The Cougars are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 20, when they host Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match. The game is set for 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
