PAKNIS LIFTS WOMEN'S SOCCER TO FIRST WIN

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Junior midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Caldwell College women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon. The win is the first of the season for the Cougars (1-3) and evens their conference record at 1-1. The Griffins drop to 0-6 on the season and 0-2 in the CACC.

Paknis opened the scoring in the 31st minute with an unassisted goal, the team's first of the season after being shut out in its first three games. With just over two minutes remaining in the first half, Paknis scored again, this time off an assist from senior forward Brook DeLucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley). Chestnut Hill's Julie Treen cut the Griffins' deficit to 2-1 with a goal in the 81st minute. But Caldwell restored its two-goal advantage just 33 second later, when DeLucca scored her first of the season off a pass from Paknis.

Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) earned her first career victory, while Chestnut Hill's Kelly Evans made nine saves in a losing effort. Caldwell enjoyed a 35-3 advantage in shots.

The Cougars host Molloy College on Monday, Sept. 17 in a non-conference match. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
