CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team lost its final regular-season game against Goldey-Beacom College, 67-51 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday night in the George R. Newman Center. The loss leaves the Cougars (10-17 overall, 8-14 CACC) in ninth place in the conference and eliminates them from playoff consideration, while the Lightning (17-10, 14-8 CACC) wrapped up the fifth seed in next week's CACC Tournament.

Goldey-Beacom took control early in the game and led by as many 12 points. But Caldwell closed out the first half strong, scoring the final nine points before halftime to make the score 26-25 at the break. Junior guard Khaliqa Davis (Newark, NJ/Bloomfield Tech), who had a three-pointer in the run, scored eight points in the first half to lead Caldwell.

Senior guard Shannon Coyle (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) hit a three-pointer at the start the second half that helped the Cougars take a 30-28 lead. But the Lightning put the game away with a 21-5 run over the next 11: 34 that gave Goldey-Beacom a commanding 35-49 advantage with 7:26 left. Caldwell never came closer than 10 points the rest of the way, as the Lightning completed the season sweep of the Cougars.

Davis and junior guards Dana Leary (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata) and Phylicia Holmes (Roselle, NJ/Roselle) each scored 10 points, with Holmes grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season. Cherrise Graham finished with a game-high 22 points and Kim Rowley had 19 points and 11 boards to pace the Lightning, who play at Dominican College on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in the first round of the CACC Tournament.

The loss marked the final game for seniors Coyle, Amy Gaudious (Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) and Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre Dame), who were honored along with their families before the game. Coyle made two three-pointers in the game to finish with 146 in her career, which ranks second all-time at Caldwell.
