CALDWELL LOSES CACC CONTEST AT WILMINGTON

BEAR, Del. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team surrendered four second-half goals to fall to Wilmington University, 6-1 Saturday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match held at Caravel Academy. The loss evens the Cougars' conference record at 3-3 while dropping their overall record to 3-8. The Wildcats are now 11-3 overall and 5-2 in the CACC.

Wilmington's Kirsten Stallone opened the scoring just 8:50 into the game to make it 1-0. Begum Malali added another goal in the 21st minute on a breakaway for a two-goal Wilmington lead. The Cougars cut the deficit in half in the 40th minute, when junior midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season off an assist from junior Carolyn Dorsey (Belmar, NJ/St. Rose). Caldwell was unable to carry the momentum into the second half, as the Wildcats scored four unanswered goals in the first 17 minutes of the half to clinch the victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) recorded six saves in the loss, while Wilmington's Amanda Jenkins made three saves. Stallone and Malali each scored twice, while Nicole Meis tallied a goal and two assists for the Wildcats.

Next up for the Cougars is another CACC contest against Felician College on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J.
