COUGARS COMPLETE CACC SLATE WITH WIN AT NYACK

NYACK, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Samantha Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan) scored in the 60th minute to lift the Caldwell College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Nyack College in the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match for both teams Tuesday afternoon at Mosely Field. The win means the Cougars (5-13 overall, 5-6 CACC) will finish no lower than seventh place in the conference heading into next week's CACC Tournament. The Warriors (8-10) also finished with a 5-6 record in the CACC.

With the game still scoreless midway through the second half, a pass from senior midfielder Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Galloway Twp.) sent Rinks in alone on Nyack goalkeeper Whitney Shutt. Rinks (pictured) beat Shutt for her second goal of the season and the only tally of the game. The win ends a five-game losing skid for Caldwell, which returns to the CACC Tournament for the third time in four years.

Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) made one save to record her third shutout of the season, while Shutt recorded five saves in goal for Nyack. Caldwell held a 12-4 advantage in shots over the Warriors for the game.

The Cougars wrap up the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 25 with a home game against N.Y.I.T. The game, which starts at 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field, marks the final home match for the six seniors on the team.
