PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches, losing to Molloy College and host USP Saturday afternoon in a tri-match held at USP's Bobby Morgan Arena. With the defeats, the Cougars fall to 0-7 on the season and 0-6 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Caldwell played non-conference foe Molloy in the first match, losing 30-23, 30-18 and 30-19. Senior Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre Dame) and sophomore Laura Ciesla (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) each had six kills to pace the Cougars. Ciesla also recorded 11 assists and 11 digs, with Ransom also collecting 10 digs. Angela Berra had nine kills to lead Molloy.
In the second match, the Devils won three games by the scores of 30-13, 30-10 and 30-10 to improve to 6-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Sophomore Elizabeth Newcomb tallied a season-high 15 digs for the Cougar defense. For USP, Megan Wolfe had 12 kills and Andrea Cardine 11 in the win.
The Cougars host Post University on Tuesday, Sept. 26 in a CACC match. The match begins at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
