NYACK, N.Y. - The Caldwell College women's volleyball team fell to Nyack College in three games in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Monday evening at Nyack's Bowman Gymnasium. The Warriors defeated the Cougars 30-12, 30-16 and 30-24 to complete the season sweep of Caldwell, which lost to Nyack 3-0 in the Cougars' inaugural match Sept. 12. The Cougars are now 0-10 overall and 0-9 in the conference, while the Warriors improve to 4-15, 4-5 CACC.
Freshman Elizabeth Newcomb (Redondo Beach, CA/Redondo Union) paced the Cougars defensively with 17 digs, while sophomore Laura DeVico (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) and senior Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre Dame) had 14 and 12 digs, respectively. Ransom also had five kills for Caldwell. Laurie Stuart and Wendy Paige each had 10 kills, and Tara Leegwater recorded 23 assists to lead Nyack.
The Cougars return home for a CACC match with Felician College on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
