COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team dropped its first game of the 2005 season to Merrimack College, 6-0 at the St. Michael's College Tournament in Colchester, Vt.
Lindsay Sheffield scored what would prove to be the game-winner 3:20 into the game. Kristina McSherry found the net in the 37th minute to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead at halftime. In the 57th minute, Jess Steir scored to make it 3-0, then the Warriors notched three goals in the final five minutes of the game for the final score.
Freshman goalkeeper Annie LaForge (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) made eight saves in her collegiate debut. Sophomore forward Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) led the Cougars with two shots.
Caldwell's women's soccer team continues play in the St. Michael's College Tournament on Sunday against the host Purple Knights (0-2) at 12:00 p.m.
