PAKNIS, COUGARS DOWN POST 1-0

CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester), pictured, scored the game's only goal in the 26th minute to give the Caldwell College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Cougars improved to 7-4-1 overall and 5-2 in the CACC, while the Eagles dropped to 2-7-3 overall and 2-3-2 in the conference.

The Cougars notched the only goal they would need when sophomore forward Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) found senior Renata Fonseca (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Essex CC) down the right side. Fonseca crossed the ball to the far post, where Paknis controlled the pass and scored from 18 yards out. The goal was the second of the year for Paknis, who leads the team and the CACC with six assists on the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jen Borden (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) made two saves to earn the shutout for Caldwell in her first start of the season. Post's Kathryn Fredrickson recorded seven saves as the Cougars out-shot the Eagles 16-5.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, when they play at N.J.I.T. in an important CACC match-up. Game time is set for 10:30 a.m.
