COUGARS WRAP UP NO. 2 SEED WITH 8-2 WIN OVER FELICIAN

CALDWELL, N.J. - A pair of goals less than two minutes apart by freshman midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) led the Caldwell College women's soccer team to an 8-2 victory over Felician College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Friday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The win in their final regular-season contest gives the Cougars (8-7-3, 6-3-2 CACC) the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in next week's CACC Tournament.

Paknis put the Cougars on the board in the 13th minute when she knocked in a rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley). Just 1:53 later, Paknis found the net again after taking a long pass from sophomore defender Tory Marcus (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and placing a shot into the upper left corner of the goal for her fifth of the season. Juniors Victoria Aguilera (Merida, Venezuela/Saucon Valley) and Patty Clark (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) and sophomores Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) and Jessica Davis (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) each scored first-half goals, as did senior Renata Fonseca (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Essex CC), who played in her final game at Caldwell Field.

Felician notched two goals in the second half by Arianna Beam and Cortney Gavin. Sophomore forward Jen Ferreira (Colonia, NJ/Colonia), left, closed out the scoring for Caldwell with her first career goal in the 89th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jen Borden (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) made six saves in goal for the Cougars, while Michelle Feuerstein recorded 10 saves for the Golden Falcons (1-14-2, 1-9-1 CACC).

Fonseca has tallied 19 goals, 16 assists and 54 points in her three-year career at Caldwell College to rank among the program's leaders in all three categories.

Next up for the Cougars is the semifinals of the CACC Tournament, which will be played at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J., on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 12:00 p.m. Caldwell will face the either third-seeded Goldey-Beacom College or sixth-seeded Post University, who play on Monday, Oct. 31 in Wilmington, Del.
