COUGARS FALL TO WILMINGTON, 7-2

NEW CASTLE, Del. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team lost to Wilmington College 7-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at Kirkwood Soccer Complex. With the loss, the Cougars fell to 1-2 in the conference and 2-4 overall, while the Wildcats improved to 3-1 in the CACC and 6-1 overall.

Goals from Christina Knight and Colby Bugda gave Wilmington a 2-0 halftime lead. Caldwell responded quickly in the second half, with freshman Jessica Davis (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) scoring off of a crossing pass from freshman Danielle Shovlin (Allentown, NJ/Notre Dame) just two minutes after the break. But starting with Begum Malali's tally in the 63rd minute, the Wildcats reeled off four straight goals to give Wilmington an insurmountable 6-1 lead.

Freshman Lane Viccidomini (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) put the Cougars back on the scoreboard with a goal in the 86th minute. Wilmington's Christina Coccia scored just before time expired for the game's final tally.

Caldwell goalkeepers Richelle Morse (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) and Jen Borden (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) made seven and six saves, respectively, while Chrissy Bevenour made nine saves for the Wildcats.

The Cougars return to action on Sunday with a non-conference match against St. Michael's College at Caldwell Field. Game time is at 1:00 p.m.
