CALDWELL, N.J. - Sophomore forward Victoria Aguilera (Merida, Venezuela/Saucon Valley) scored in the sixth minute of overtime to give the Caldwell College women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Goldey-Beacom in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Cougars improve to 3-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the CACC, while the Lightning are now 2-6-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Aguilera tallied the golden goal when she hit a volley off of a corner kick from Jessica Davis (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City). It was the first goal of the season for Aguilera, who led the Cougars with seven goals and nine assists a year ago.

Goldey-Beacom's April Yanacek opened the scoring in the 21st minute, when she chased down a loose ball in the penalty area. Yanacek's initial shot was stopped by junior goalkeeper Richelle Morse (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley), but the rebound got behind Morse, and Yanacek knocke dthe ball in the goal to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.

That lead would last until the 79th minute, when freshman Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) took a pass from junior Renata Fonseca (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Essex CC) and beat goalkeeper Stephanie Steele from 15 yards out.

Aguilera almost gave Caldwell the lead in regulation, but her blast from 25 yards was tipped off the crossbar and out of bounds by Steele. Just before the end of regulation, Yanacek had a scoring chance when she raced in behind the Cougar defense. But Morse met her near the top of the penalty area and grabbed the ball before a shot could be taken.

Morse made six saves for the Cougars, while Steele recorded 10 saves for the Lightning.

The Caldwell College women's soccer team's next game is at Teikyo Post on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
