Joseph Chorba was a freshman on Caldwell’s first baseball team in 1996, and established himself as the program’s first workhorse on the mound. His 206 career innings pitched stood as the school record for nine years. A member of the all-CACC team as a sophomore and senior, Chorba was 6-1 with an earned run average of 3.61 in his final season. That year, he helped lead the Cougars to the finals of the CACC Tournament. Over his career, he was 17-9 to rank fourth all-time in winning percentage and fifth in victories at Caldwell.
“Being a part of the first team at Caldwell is special. There are only five guys from that first class who stayed and graduated,” Chorba said. “Seeing where we started from and what we had, and knowing where the program is now, makes us proud to have played a role in getting things started.”
Chorba grew up in West Milford, N.J. and attended DePaul Catholic High School. He currently lives in Livingston, N.J., and is a CPA at Wilkin and Guttenplan. Chorba married the former Maryann Laracca, a 1998 Caldwell graduate, and they have two daughters: Giulia and Gabriella.
