Gina Borea arrived at Caldwell College in 1984 and had an immediate impact, ranking fourth in New Jersey in scoring as a freshman. A 5-foot-3 scoring dynamo, Borea was an excellent long-range shooter who also excelled as a passer. She eclipsed 1,000 points early in her junior season while continually appearing on the state’s scoring list. By the time her career at Caldwell was complete, Borea scored 1,990 points to set the school’s scoring record.
"Gina just has it in her mind that she will overcome her opponents, despite her size," her coach, Kathy Morgan said during Borea’s junior year. "She is determined to prove that she can play with anyone - no matter what their size or physical advantage may be."
Borea describes her teams as being small and tight-knit during her time at Caldwell. "We all had a strong work ethic, and everyone gave 100 percent. It was a great thing to see and to be a part of."
Borea, who is from Orange, N.J., and attended Bayley-Ellard High School in Madison, now lives in Whitehouse Station, N.J.
