Derek Bailey was a key member of Caldwell’s first two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men’s basketball championship squads. His physical presence inside helped the Cougars win conference titles in 1993 and 1996. As a senior in 1996, Bailey carried the Cougars past Dominican in the CACC championship game, racking up 19 points and 17 rebounds.

“Before our senior year, Ed Elam said we just need to get to the championship game, because there isn’t a team in the conference that could beat us,” Bailey said about the 1996 championship squad. “I carried that with me all season, and it’s really special to go out as I came in – as a winner.”

A three-time all-CACC honoree and an honorable mention All-American as a junior and senior, Bailey left Caldwell as the program’s second-leading scorer and rebounder. He currently ranks fourth all-time with 1,643 points in his career.

A native of Voorhees, N.J., Bailey lives in Sicklerville, N.J., with his wife Erin and their children Daylen and Alyssa. He is a supervisor for the Department of Child Protection.
