Women’s Basketball NCAA Preview: #4 Cougars Face #5 Molloy in the NCAA D2 East Region Quarterfinals on Friday at 7:30 pm

Overview
The #4 Caldwell University women's basketball team will play in their first-ever NCAA Division II Championship contest on Friday, March 10 at 7:30 pm. The Cougars take on #5 Molloy College on the campus of Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. The Cougars enter Friday's game with a 25-5 record, while the Lions are 22-8.

Admission fee is $8 adults, $5 for seniors and children and $3 for students with valid ID.
 
Last Time Out
The teams met on December 29 at the Newman Center with the Lions emerging with an 81-76 victory. Caldwell was led by junior Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y), who totaled 21 points, five assists and eight rebounds. Sophomore Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) chipped in 18 points, while junior Maura Kelty (Barrington R.I.) totaled 17 points and four boards. Molloy was led by Symone Kelly who tallied 23 points and 11 boards. Kamala Thompson posted 17 points and 14 boards.
 
Scouting the Cougars (25-5, 18-1 CACC)
The Cougars fell in their last contest as they came up short to USciences 72-57 in the CACC Championship final on Sunday. For the season, Drogsler leads Caldwell with 19.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She has connected on a team-best 82 triples. Senior Antoinette Pilla is chipping in 13.2 points per contest and had drained 67 three-pointers. Junior Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) is posting 10.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.6 steals per game.
 
Scouting the Lions (22-8, 12-6 ECC)
The Lions defeated NYIT 56-53 on Sunday to win the East Coast Conference Title and secure the conference automatic bid to the NCAA D2 Championship. Thompson leads Molloy this season with 15.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. She has connected on a team-best 65 three-pointers. Aliyah McDonald is chipping in 14.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Kelly is contributing 12.1 points and 8.0 boards per game.
 
Next Up
The winner of this semifinal match up will advance to the East Region semifinals on Saturday at 7:30 pm. They will face the winner of the #1 Adelphi-#8 NYIT contest.
